Tim Nickels Fine Art
Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese art of fish printing, created directly from real fish.
Each piece on this site is hand-printed, capturing the true detail, texture, and character of the fish exactly as it was. I print exclusively on traditional Japanese papers; their natural textures, variations, and imperfections are an intentional part of each original piece.
I live and work in Central Texas, where fishing, time outdoors, and hands-on work have always been part of my life. Gyotaku brings those interests together. The process is simple but demanding—ink, paper, and patience—allowing no shortcuts and no reproductions.
Every print is made individually. No two are ever the same. When a piece is sold, it is gone. Whether you are an angler, a collector, or someone who appreciates nature and craftsmanship, I invite you to explore the work.
